Laziness at its best

So, its been a while since I've written, definitely not my plan but I am lazy. I have thought about writing a lot, i even started writing a post a few weeks ago, but I never finished. But here I am, hopefully it won't take me another month and a half to post.

Anyway, life is going well. We are staying very busy. My schedule is pretty hectic, I work a different schedule each week, but I am enjoying my job for the most part. The past couple weeks I've picked up extra shifts so I've been working 4 days a week instead of 3. A little crazy but nice paychecks :)

How 'bout them Seminoles! I'm so excited football season is here, and very happy we won our first game. We went to the first downtown getdown with Kendall, Nicole, and her boyfriend Chris. It was insanely crowded and so hot but we still had fun.

So we ended up just watching the game at my parents house because my mom ordered ESPNU for the game.

Nic and her cute earrings :)

Amanda and Tatianna came over too so we had to put some seminole gear on lil Tati, how cute is she!

Truth be told I actually fell asleep during the last quarter of the game, I was so tired but I never doubted our win. I can't wait for the rest of the games!

Well thats all for now, but I am going to really try and keep up with this blog, mostly because I want to have a virtual scrapbook of life these days.

Hope everyone has a great weekend, I'm excited we will be celebrating Kelsey's 21st birthday, I will have lots of pictures!

Catching up

So it's been a little while, I've been a bit lazy updating the blog, whoops.

Anyway, there's been much going on around the Frunzi home, starting with a New Car!!  We went last Thursday to a couple places and decided on a new 2011 Mazda 3. The color is graphite (dark grey) and it has black interior. I couldn't love it anymore!

(sorry for the bright glare, our driveway is half shaded)

(yes I did cover my license plate with my finger, I don't really want that all over the internet for obvious reasons)

(The inside, the picture doesn't do it justice, its especially cool at night, everything lights up red )

(The interior, although the picture makes the seat look grey, its actually black too)

And last but not least the front, it almost looks like it smiles at you :)

Anywho, we love the car, (minus there being a little scratch that turned into an ordeal but was taken care of) especially because neither of us have ever had a new car before :) I'm making it my goal to keep it super clean and even vacuum it quite often (I probably vacuumed my old car 3 times in the 4 years I had it).

I will be driving the new car, and Jason will be driving my old Lancer. So I like to call it my car, but if you ask Jason he will says its his ;) His truck is pretty old and definitely has a lot of cosmetic damage but we're hoping to get at least a little bit from it.

So, a big reason I haven't been blogging is because I've been sleeping. I completed my four in a row night shifts on Tuesday morning and my sleep schedule has been off ever since. I slept all day Tuesday then stayed up until 3 and finally made it bed. Wednesday night was a little better but I was still up until 2am and last night I went to bed at 1:15. I'm still trying to adjust my schedule back to sleeping at night and not during the day on my days off, I just haven't perfected it yet.

Work is going pretty well, I think I am getting the hang of things better and am feeling a little more independent.  I'm up to caring for 3 patients and hopefully tonight I will get 4. Believe it or not I've actually been kinda bored at work. There aren't too many medications to be giving in the middle of the night and the few there are don't take very long when you only have 2 or 3 patients. There also aren't doctors around with new orders so there aren't too many new tasks to complete. The other nurse's on the floor commented that it has been pretty slow compared to normal so I'm kinda wondering how tonight will go. I really wouldn't mind it being busier because the shift will go by so much faster, but I don't wanna jinx it or anything.

I work tonight, have Saturday off, and then work Sunday and Monday night. I'm going to try and still have a little fun on Fourth of July, I just won't get too much sleep. After this weekend, I don't have anymore full weekends (unless the schedule changes) so I'm looking forward to that, Jason and I haven't gotten to see too much of each other.

I finally made an appointment with a personal trainer at my gym. The first appointment they basically just do an assessment and see what you can do and what you would like to work on. I went on Wednesday and I think it went well. i consider myself in decent shape but I know that I need to stretch more and that I have a very week core. We did a sit and reach test, (obviously not me but in case you didn't know what that was, here's a picture)

basically testing my flexibility and I definitely scored in the low category, I got a 28 and he said 32 was average, haha. I did score excellent on the cardiovascular fitness so that did make me feel better :) We had about 15 minutes left of the session so we did a little ab workout and omg I am soo sore, still. I can hardly stand straight because my abs, or lack there of, are so tight. I also know that the best thing for me would be to continually do those ab workouts, but I've been a bit lazy so I haven't. My own fault.

Well I'm off to bed for a couple hours before my shift, but I hope everyone has a great Friday and 3 day weekend (unless you work like me :/), Happy Fourth of July! (a few days early)

Work

So I survived my first real day of work. I went in Monday at 7pm and didn't leave until about 8am Tuesday morning, needless to say I was exhausted.

I kinda felt like a student all over again because I basically just followed my nurse around seeing how they do everything up on the floor. I couldn't log into the medication system yet so I didn't get to do much. But it was still good and now I know what to expect. I work again tonight at 7 and work 4 days in a row, not sure how that's gonna go. Tuesday morning I was exhausted and pretty much worthless all day, I got nothing done.

The biggest thing for me was switching to a night schedule and then switching back to a normal day schedule. I tried not sleeping very long on Tuesday but I was so tired I slept through 2 alarms and woke up 2 hours after I wanted to. I was still able to go back to bed that night but not until midnight. I've gotten a few tips from people so I will try those out and let you know :)

Tonight I will start off with 2 patients on my own, so I will be responsible for all their care and I am excited. I think I'll get a much better feel for the floor and types of patients now that I will have my own. Don't worry technically they will still be my nurses' patients' too and I am sure I'll be asking lots of questions, but I will get to be a little more independent.

Wish me luck for the next 4 days!

Weekend Recap

This weekend was much needed, fun and relaxation.

Friday night Jason's team had a baseball game (he coaches Leon's summerball team) so he went there while I stayed home and just watched tv. 30 minutes into the game it was called because of thunder and lightening so Jason came home early and we got to eat dinner and then watch Toy Story 3 together. Truth be told I wasn't watching it the whole time so I don't know if I really like it. I kept getting distracted by reading other blogs and facebook and Jason fell asleep 20 minutes in. I feel like we're this old couple, we stayed home and watched a kids movie on a Friday night, hah, I don't really care though, it was nice :)

Saturday my goal was to wake up early and go to the gym before I started the day, that definitely did not happen. I slept in until about 9:45, then moseyed around for about an hour before finally getting ready.

My friend Ashlyn had her baby shower yesterday and it was a lot of fun. Her husband's mom hosted it at her house and all the decorations were so cute. She had pictures of both Ashlyn and Russell as babies, had so many cute onesies hanging up (all neutral since the sex of the baby is going to be a surprise), and the food and drinks were so good. We played some fun games and I won! You had to guess how many jelly beans were in the bottle and I was only 3 away.
me with the mom to be.

My two sisters and me (my mom was there too but I didn't get a picture of all of us)

The shower was a lot of fun, and I'm so excited to meet her new little one and find out if its a girl or a boy.

Saturday night we went with a bunch of friends out to El Jalisco's for dinner and margaritas and then went and played pool at pockets. Most of us girls that went just talked while the guys actually played. I did try but pool is not something I'm good at.

Sunday we spent the day at my parents house. We grilled, swam, and just hung out. My older sister got into town late Saturday night so she was there too. Everytime the whole family is together it is crazy. Instead of trying to explain it, I'll just show pictures.

Needless to say, I think everyone had a great Father's Day.

This weekend was a lot of fun, but I am excited to actually start working on the floor at the hospital. I'll be sure to update how my first week goes.

Finally finished!

So this was my first week at work and it was filled with lots of speakers and online assignments. I am happy to say that this part of orientation is over. I've felt so worn out all week and I haven't even been doing much. Our days started at 8 and ended at 4:30 with an hour lunch break. I've been even going to bed at 10 and waking up at 6 and am still tired. Someone made the comment that it's because we actually had to use our brains, haha, but whatever the reason, it matters no more. I report to my floor at 7pm Monday and I'm very excited! Orientation wasn't bad at all though, 3 other classmates of mine started the same week I did so i got to go through it with them, and one is even working on my same floor. It was nice having familiar faces there.I wanted to get a picture of all 4 of us, but sadly I didn't, but I did get a picture of my first day in scrubs.

I'm very much looking forward to this weekend, I plan on sleeping in tomorrow, possibly going to the gym, then a baby shower, and then Mexican for dinner! Sunday is Father's Day and we will be spending the whole day at my parents house, my sister is gonna be here from Virginia, so it should be fun.

Life

So, I've finally joined what everyone else is doing and started a blog. Not quite sure how its gonna go but we shall see.

So, what's been going on with us lately? Lots, I feel like I've been busier than ever. I just started my new job as a registered nurse on the Neuro unit. I've only finished 4 days of orientation so not much to report on that except that my schedule next week is crazy. I work 7p-7a on Monday and then the same hours Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. I'll be working alongside another nurse to see how they do everything on their unit and so I'll be working her shift for about the next 3 months. I'm really excited to actually start working on the floor, although its a little nerve wracking. For the past 2 years I've been in school and practicing for this, but it all seems so surreal, I've wanted to be a nurse for so long and I finally am one :)

Jason and I have also started going to the gym together, we just got a membership to Premier, a super nice and big gym and have been going the past couple days (I get a discount for working at the hospital). I've mostly just been running on the indoor track, that's air conditioned, which is awesome. Jason has been lifting weights and stuff, but I'm just a tad intimidated. We get 2 free personal trainer sessions which I'm looking forward to so that I can feel comfortable with all the machines and actually work out.

Well, that's all for now, until next time...
